Can I apply for work with the stamped biometric form since my green card...?

I lost my expired green card and had to apply for a new one and USCIS said i will be receiving it in the mail within 1 to 6 month. Since you are required to have a green card to work in the US, will employers accept the biometric form that was stamped when I came in to get my finger print taken for the new card?
