Extracurricular Activities?

Being active and having a variety of interests can be a plus on an application. However, it can also seem that someone is just trying to stuff their resume. Just as impressive (if not more so) is someone who has pursued one or two interests and excelled in them. It says a lot more that you were in Yearbook and became chief editor by your senior year than it does that you showed up at 3 different clubs each year. Many "top tier" schools are looking for the exceptional person who has the drive to succeed and something deep and rich to bring with them to the university.
